The Autumn months are quickly passing us by and 2010 is nearing its end. This is easily the best time of the year, at least in regards to sports, in the Kansas City area. Too bad we don’t have a NBA team because that’s started up already. But what we don’t have in NBA, we make up for with college teams. Missouri, Kansas, and Kansas State are all huge out here. Throw in some sprinklings of Nebraska and Iowa State and we have a pretty wide variety of fans here in KC. You probably already know our feelings about the NFL and college football from previous blogs.
Let’s get to the point here regarding the “White Winter” reference in the blog title. On Tuesday, local meteorologist (or weather man — great Nic Cage movie by the way) Gary Lezak released his prediction for snow storms this winter here in KC. There’s a lot that goes into his prediction and you can watch the video below, or read about it on the NBC Action News website.
So how much snow did Gary predict we’d get this year?
A measly 13 inches!!!!! That’s 31″ less than we received last year. The forecast is actually fine by me. Snow is pretty and all, but once it starts melting and getting that muddy-water look, I’m done with it. I also don’t like the slick roads and traffic accidents that can result. It can also slow down delivery trucks (and planes) and hinder our employees getting into work. Now that I’ve gone over the negatives, I guess snow’s not that great. I might not even have to break out the Snow Beasts this year!
If Gary’s correct, we should have a pretty easy Winter season here. Thanks Gary — we’ll see how your prediction goes over the next few months!
In the meantime, we’ll be doing our usual, repairing Apple products by day and cozying up by the fireplace by night.
Until next time,
