Hotep!

General Knowledge / General Knowledge

Hey friends. Did you miss me? Last week/weekend was the fifth annual True/False Film Festival in Columbia, MO and my wife and I spent a few days taking in some amazing documentaries. We got to meet Alex Gibney, Oscar-winning director of Taxi to the Dark Side and Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, as well as preview his new doc Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson. The highlight of the weekend was Life. Support. Music., a film about New York guitarist Jason Crigler who collapsed during a performance and missed the next year and a half of his life due to an AVM, which has essentially the same effect as a brain aneurysm. If you ever get a chance to see it, then I insist you do. It’s an amazing story of recovery and a brilliantly executed documentary.

MacBooks got a bit of a boost in my absence. The nerve of Papa Jobs to authorize a processor speed bump without waiting for me. Anyway, you can now get your grubby hands on a MacBook that runs at 2.4GHz, or a MacBook Pro at 2.6GHz. Plus more storage space, which is nice.

Ok, this is where we get interactive. I’m headed to Ethiopia next week to visit the three kids that my wife and I sponsor and I need to load up my iPod with a new trans-Atlantic soundtrack. $20 off your next repair if you send me an artist/album recommendation that I don’t already have. You save money, I hear new music, everybody wins. Keep in mind that I must have it by Tuesday at 5:00PM CST, friends. Bring it.

P.S. In case you’re wondering, Hotep means “peace be with you” in Amharic, Ethiopia’s most commonly spoken language.
