Big gains for busy workers in iOS 6

While much of the attention for Apple’s new iOS 6 has focused on flashy additions like the new Passbook and Maps apps, many of the operating system’s biggest improvements are small changes that will help business users, according to several experts.

MacWorld’s Rick Broida identified several productivity gains in iOS 6, which he said was worth the upgrade. Among the features likely to appeal to the chronically busy is the VIP inbox, which filters messages from important contacts into a separate inbox to help prioritize responses and manage time.

For more time management, iPad users will appreciate the new native Clocks app, wrote TechCrunch reviewer Darrell Etherington, which makes it easier to set alarms. The Reminders app has also been updated to prioritize tasks, set repeating tasks, ping users when arriving at or departing from any location and sync with iCloud.

Broida also noted that Siri-powered Facebook and Twitter updates make it easier to manage social media marketing on the go, while the option to use different email signatures for different accounts is another welcome improvement.

These productivity features are all things that apply to anyone using iOS 6, so you don’t have to have the new iPhone to improve your work habits.
