Apple is also concerned about the idea that people will sue them if they try to fix their phones or iPads themselves and experience a severe accident. Whether it’s breaking the phone’s glass and getting a shard of it in the face or getting electrocuted while monkeying around with a device, Apple is worried that, if too many people do this, it will look bad for their company. They can always fight lawsuits claiming customers were told not to try to fix their devices themselves, but having enough of these pile up will just be embarrassing—let alone expensive to deal with.
Repairs Made Simple
In addition, if Apple had to give users all the tools and information necessary to fix their phones, it would be expensive and time consuming. When the company explains how to fix an iPhone to one of their technicians, they can use complicated terms or instructions without much detail, both of which would confuse a layman just trying to fix their device. They would have to put a lot more effort into explaining how to fix these products to individuals who don’t do it for a living, especially because of the compactness and delicateness of their products.
Why Doesn’t Apple Want You to Fix Your Device?
It’s simply because, in the long run, it will make things harder on them and because it throws too many variables into the mix. Sometimes, fixing a phone or an iPad yourself can even be dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing. In these cases, taking it to a professional is often the best course of action.
