iPhone 11 Release Date Expected to Be September 2018

It’s been mere weeks since the release of Apple’s iPhone X, and rumors are swirling already about the upcoming iPhone 11—even though it’s as yet uncertain if that’s even what it will be called. Apple launched its iPhone X just a month after the release of the iPhone 8 and the 8 Plus, and that seriously hurt sales of the latter two models. It seems they’re taking a bit more marketing care before releasing the next version, at least if rumors can be believed.

According to a recent report, the iPhone 11 (for the sake of confusion, we’ll just call it that for now) is set for release in September of 2018. This would mark just a year following the release of the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus.

Ming-Chi Kuo is an analyst with KGI Securities. He believes it’s likely that Apple may even launch three new phones next fall, just like they did this year. He believes one of those new phones will be a more budget friendly iPhone that mirrors the iPhone X. Kuo reports that the new “budget” phone should come in somewhere between $649 and $749 U.S. dollars. It is expected to be bezel free, have a Face I.D. camera and feature no Home button.

A different report states that a deal was signed months ago for a seemingly countless supply of 5.85 inch and 6.46 inch OLED panels for use on Apple’s 2018 phones. One of these would outsize the current iPhone X, fueling speculation that an iPhone X Plus might be in the cards.

Ming-Chi Kuo shared his opinions about these possibilities, as well as further thoughts on the impending “budget” model.

“Two new OLED models target the high-end market and the new TFT-LCD model aims at the low-end and midrange markets. We believe the major hardware difference in the two new OLED models is size, in a bid to satisfy various needs of the high-end market. The new TFT-LCD model will differ significantly from the OLED models in hardware and design specs,” he said.

If all these speculations prove true, there will be three new iPhone models on the market in less than a year. In addition to excitement for iPhone users, there is sure to be excitement for those in the business of repairing iPhones. Their business will increase exponentially with yet another release trifecta headed their way. After all, there’s practically no way that three new iPhones will be released without at least one of them coming with some major glitches.
