You hit the Home button on your iPhone, and nothing happens. You press it again, and again, nothing happens. You start punching your finger on the Home button, and finally, after the 10th time, you see your Home screen.
It’s an iPhone, so you shouldn’t have to abuse it to get it to work. Before you think we’re just going to tell you to send it in, we want to help you fix iPhone home button at home first.
Recalibrate the Home Button
Sometimes, all it takes is a little calibration. Start by opening an app, hold down your sleep/wake button. When the Power Off screen comes up, hold your Home button down for 10 seconds.
Try the Home button to see if it works. If it doesn’t, then move on to the next fix iPhone home button trick.
Move It Back Into Place
After your iPhone has been jammed into your jeans’ pocket a few times, the Home button may move, so moving it back can make it work for you again. To do this, plug the charger in, and lightly push it towards the back of the phone, then press the Home button.
Clean the Home Button
Do you have a whole bunch of gunk around the Home button? That could be making it stick, which keeps it from responding when you press on it.
Grab yourself some 99.9% isopropyl alcohol and a cue tip. Slightly moisten the cue tip with it, and then wipe the Home button.
DO NOT use a lot of it, and don’t use rubbing alcohol. As you probably know, water can damage your phone, and that would be devastating to you when you’re trying to make your phone function normally.
