Well, not officially, but pretty close. The Spring Equinox is set for March 20 this year, which is coming right up.
Kansas City has already seen a complete 180 as far as weather is concerned. It’s still a little brisk in the mornings or evenings, but it’s been over 60F several times. No complaints here.
March Madness has definitely struck the Kansas City area, as the city is currently hosting the Big 12 basketball tournament at our new Sprint Center facility. “Selection Sunday” is this weekend and will set the stage of 65 teams for the famous NCAA Tournament. Make sure to get your office pools going next week.

iResQ wise, you guessed it. We’re still receiving hundreds of products to repair per day. We’re excited to fire up the company BBQ grill very soon. Of course, we’re eagerly anticipating the iPad release that will happen very, very soon.
In the meantime, keep sending us those broken iPods, cracked iPhone screens, MacBook LCD repairs, etc., and we will keep working hard. Talk to you again soon,

Hi all,
No, this is not a post about the Red Hat Society.
It’s no secret that we get a lot of compliments from our happy customers. For some reason, people just love to hit the “Reply” button after they get one of our confirmation emails and spill the beans. We think it’s great and encourage all our customers to let us know their thoughts. We have a full time staff replying to emails and picking up phones all day long.
We received an email last week from someone very special to the tech community — Mr. Matthew Szulik, Chairman and former CEO of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Mr. Szulik’s iPod had a failing logic board and we took care of him, so he provided us with the following email:
B, came home from a challenging business day to find my repaired Ipod
awaiting me – just as you committed. Perhaps like many listeners, a
day without my music served by my Ipod is a like a day without color.
I am especially grateful for the time you took to speak with me to
explain the technical issue and your prompt response. End to end, the
iResQ experience was simple and successful. Please know I am grateful.
Matthew
Thanks for the kind words Matthew! We are very proud to have served you well.
Until next time, folks.

Wow, finally some iPad news! Here are the details from Engadget, complete with pricing: iPad Launches on April 3, Preorders Begin March 12.
There’s nothing like some exciting Apple news to start off a Friday morning. Since I’m not a coffee drinker, it really gives me that kick that I need. Our company breakfast today didn’t hurt either. Yum.
So here’s an excerpt taken from the Engadget article for those of you too scared to click the link:
“The iPad will be launching on Saturday April 3rd (and on the shelves, er… display tables at Apple retail stores), but you’ll be able to plunk down cold, hard cash for it in just a week. Pre-orders will begin on March 12th for the US version (non-3G) for that April street date, with the 3G version coming in late April”
Great stuff! You can be sure that we’ll have our hands on these babies as soon as they are available. Of course, we’ll also be repairing the iPads in case you haven’t seen the links all over our website.
Speaking of great stuff, did you know that this week marked the birthday of Alexander Graham Bell? Yep, that’s right — the man who is credited for inventing the telephone. He would have been 163 on March 3rd. I wonder what he would think about the iPhone 3GS? I wonder if he’d play “Words with Friends” against me?

Alexander Graham Bell's version of the Blue Steel
Have a great weekend all, and get your pocketbooks ready to buy an iPad.

Wow, what a busy last couple of weeks… and it’s not slowing down. A special thanks to all our customers (and potential customers) for giving us a chance to repair your favorite gadgets.
If any of you tried to call us last Friday afternoon, say, around 1:00-4:00 PM, you might have found that we weren’t answering phones. We had a mini-meltdown outside of our offices and some of the transformers blew up – causing our whole side of the street to lose power for a few hours. Our important servers and workstations were on a backup power source EXCEPT for our phone system. Whoops.
If you tried to call in to us during that brief period, we’re sorry that our phones weren’t working. The power is back and the problem is resolved moving forward. On a positive note, the employees who heard a loud *POP* and quickly looked outside got to see a nice little fireworks show.

A couple of these bit it.
I don’t know why, but I didn’t snap any photos of the actual damage. But I can tell you that it blew some ceramic bits all the way into our parking lot, which is probably over 100 feet away.
So there it is — my fun story for the day. Thanks for reading!

March 3rd, 2010
Greetings friends. And happy March to you. This week in Kansas City the sun came out and the temperature jumped above forty degrees for the first time in what seems like years. So everything’s just a little happier here. Perhaps not as happy as it is in Mexico where your favorite sales manager Mick is assuredly toasting his pasty Scottish skin off, but things are looking brighter.
For one thing, the state of Kansas, where iResQ resides, is currently home to two top five basketball teams. Take that, North Carolina. That’s right- the No. 2 Kansas Jayhawks and the No. 5 Kansas State Wildcats are facing off tonight at the historic Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence. And the implications are huge for the Big 12 conference- if Kansas happens to lose tonight and later this week to Missouri, then the Jayhawks have to share the conference title with their in-state rivals. So, huzzah. To be honest, I’m a little torn having spent time at both institutions. So I’ll do the non-confrontational thing and root for a good game. Go Basketball!
About a week ago the technicians here received a gracious gift from a delightful and thankful customer. Along with an iPod for repair, we received a copy of Krampusnacht, the latest album from The Bourbon Knights and its sounds have been filling the tech room ever since. And now I’m letting you all in on a little secret. This record is awesome. I could give you a list of some of the most creative album covers I’ve ever seen, but it’s rare that I find a record that sucks me in so convincingly before I even open the packaging. I’m rather prone to hyperbolic statements about the best this or the greatest that, but this time I mean it. This is my favorite packaging I’ve seen on any album ever. The coarse brown paper and the folky illustrations perfectly set the tone for the music you’re about to hear. And the songs certainly don’t disappoint; fans of gypsy-folk sounds like Gogol Bordello or the Red Elvises will likely find something familiar, and even more accessible. But there’s something much warmer, more sincere about The Bourbon Knights creation. They made a hip, current record without ignoring the influence of classics like Django Reinhardt. More than that, it’s easy imagine how much fun they had making this record, and the cultural references to the Krampus help make this one of the more enjoyable albums I’ve listened to in a while.
Krampusnacht isn’t available on iTunes, but you can find it at thebourbonknights.com. So it’s my quasi-iTunes pick of the week. Get the album, put it on your iPod or iPhone, and enjoy. Talk to you later, friends.
